Free HVAC Mold Inspections Are Scams.

Actual proper mold testing is very expensive and should only be performed by licensed technicians.

No legitimate company will offer a free mold inspection, and any company that claims they do are simply looking for bait and switch victims.

Many types of mold particles normally exist in all homes.  In other words you will always be able to find some kind of mold no matter where you look.

The majority of information regarding mold that the general public is exposed to originates from companies that make money selling mold-related products or services.  As a result, most people who call a mold removal contractor are not really sure if they have a mold problem or not.

Some companies will use scare tactics to make consumers believe they have a mold problem, or are even suffering ill effects from exposure to mold in their homes.

If you suspect you may have a problem, please use a licensed mold consultant and avoid any company that uses advertising gimmicks like “FREE MOLD INSPECTION”, “FREE CONSULTATION”,  or “FREE TESTING”!  These companies simply want to get their foot in the door and will end up trying to charge you thousands of dollars to remedy a problem that you probably do not have.

Make sure your Mold Inspector is State licensed, and also that your mold inspector is not your mold remediator.

Stop mold while you are away from home this summer.

If you have a winter home in Florida that is vacant during the summer months, or even if you just take your vacation in the summer, you need to take certain precautions to prevent mold growth while you are way.

Mold needs three things: Nutrients, a place to grow, and moisture.
So the obvious thing to do is check for any moisture problems, and fix leaky plumbing.
It is very important to have your air conditioning inspected and maintained so it is operating smoothly.
You can prevent mold from developing in your vacant home by controlling the indoor relative humidity so it is below 60%.
One of the ways to manage humidity is to have a programmable thermostat installed that will run your air conditioner at 72° for just two hours each morning before sunrise and at 88° the rest of the time. This will help prevent mold by removing moisture from the air during the cooler hours when relative humidity is highest and your A/C runs most efficiently.
